Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Singleton from sliding. Grade: B-.

The Steelers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Nicholas Singleton, the No. 99 name on the board, in the 223rd pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The cost of the Wease Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.

Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 22nd overall pick they get a centerfielder for the defense at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick53 Rnd2 Darien Porter
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darien Porter well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick84 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Charles Grant in pick 84 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick120 Rnd4 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at slot 120 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick154 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
Pick223 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at No. 223 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick229 Rnd7 Giles Jackson
Value said wait; Giles Jackson in Round 7, Pick 13 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick242 Rnd7 Micah Morris
Micah Morris in the 242nd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
