The Bears bled value on every deal, hence the D-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Bears did exactly that with Max Iheanachor in the Round 4 slot.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Hill Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

By-the-book stuff, Caleb Banks at the 38th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

Dillon Thieneman slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.

Somehow Anthony Hill Jr. was still sitting there in pick 57, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A need, and now a little less of one.

The board had Keith Abney II higher than slot 59, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
