FutureB-
A franchise passer in Milroe headlines a D weekend for the Giants. Somebody in pick No. 193 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Lander Barton, the No. 56 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Jalen Milroe; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Milroe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Jalen Milroe
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a franchise quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
A slide stopped in the 38th overall pick, with Jack Sawyer worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jabbar Muhammad
A quiet steal in slot 41: Jabbar Muhammad for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick64
Rnd2
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in pick 64 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick78
Rnd3
Barion Brown
They read the board right and Barion Brown was the payoff at the Round 3 slot. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick84
Rnd3
Nic Anderson
No edge and no loss on Nic Anderson in pick No. 84; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick88
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Taking Quinshon Judkins in Round 3, Pick 24 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jaxson Dart
They barely believed it either: Jaxson Dart still on the board at the 102nd overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick108
Rnd4
Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen at No. 108 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Mitchell Evans
Circle this one: Mitchell Evans at the 119th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193
Rnd7
Lander Barton
Lander Barton in pick 193 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
