ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureB-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Panthers a B+. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Panthers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
Every board in the league had Shipley lower, and that gap is the story. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Speights. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In the 26th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at the 33rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick39
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy at No. 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick52
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 52 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick65
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in pick 65 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82
Rnd3
McKinnley Jackson
No edge and no loss on McKinnley Jackson in Round 3, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick100
Rnd3
Matt Goncalves
They took Matt Goncalves at par in pick No. 100, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick101
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
A straight-up fair deal on Khyree Jackson at No. 101, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Nelson Ceaser
A premium they did not need to pay, Nelson Ceaser a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107
Rnd4
Will Shipley
A wild overpay on Will Shipley in Round 4, Pick 7, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at the 168th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180
Rnd6
Braiden McGregor
They reached a country mile for Braiden McGregor at slot 180, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick222
Rnd7
Omar Speights
Omar Speights in pick No. 222 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
