The Princewill Umanmielen selection is the head-turner. The 49ers reached 61 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It bottoms out at a F.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They banked enough surplus on Moore to cover a lot of smaller sins. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
