Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Princewill Umanmielen at the Round 5 slot is 70 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. It is not that Johnson is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

They banked enough surplus on Sabb to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
