Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jets: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Jets reached some 38 spots for Frank Crum, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That Barrett pick is the receipt they will wave around later. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick No. 12 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick72 Rnd3 Kiran Amegadjie
Kiran Amegadjie in Round 3, Pick 8 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick76 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
A clean, defensible pick in the 76th overall pick with a little surplus value in Patrick Paul. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick111 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
A premium they did not need to pay, Theo Johnson a notch or two before his time. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick135 Rnd4 Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt in No. 135 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick145 Rnd5 Anthony Gould
Fair-plus on Anthony Gould, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick185 Rnd6 Ty'Ron Hopper
Ty'Ron Hopper in the 185th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick256 Rnd7 Frank Crum
They left a pile of value on the table to take Frank Crum this early at No. 256. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick257 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Circle this one: Michael Barrett at slot 257 is a fall that decides a draft. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
