Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
F
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesF
FutureD-
The Seahawks finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a F. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Seahawks started one anyway for Jayson Jones, 61 picks ahead of schedule. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at running back.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Dorlus. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick16
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the 16th overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20
Rnd1
JT Tuimoloau
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a double-digit-sack hope, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
They did well to land Tyler Nubin in the 36th pick, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick43
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
No drama and no debate, Ja'Tavion Sanders went about where he belonged in pick No. 43. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick52
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 52 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick74
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
A slide stopped in pick 74, with Brandon Dorlus worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81
Rnd3
Maason Smith
A want over a need in the 81st pick: Maason Smith adds a DT-EDGE while running back keeps waiting.
Pick83
Rnd3
Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes at Round 3, Pick 19 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick84
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marshawn Kneeland well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick109
Rnd4
Cooper Beebe
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in No. 109; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick118
Rnd4
Cade Stover
A surprising call. With running back still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE they were not short of.
Pick119
Rnd4
Junior Colson
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 119 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick120
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan Travis. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick154
Rnd5
Ainias Smith
They paid sticker price for Ainias Smith in the 154th pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick160
Rnd5
Darius Robinson
A tidy little value on Darius Robinson in No. 160, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick194
Rnd6
Dwight McGlothern
Dwight McGlothern at Round 6, Pick 19 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick217
Rnd6
Jordan Toles
Jordan Toles in the 217th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick236
Rnd7
Jayson Jones
A real head-scratcher, Jayson Jones in pick No. 236 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
