Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
F

FutureD-
The Seahawks jumped the board for Crumedy and paid for it: F. The Seahawks looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Jaden Crumedy at Round 6, Pick 19 regardless, 31 picks early.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at linebacker, quarterback and other spots. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Landing Amegadjie that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left linebacker open, and the grade is the bill.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In pick 6 they get a matchup weapon at tight end at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick16
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In No. 16 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick18
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In pick No. 18 they get a difference-maker at receiver, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39
Rnd2
Ja'Tavion Sanders
Ja'Tavion Sanders in the 39th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
By-the-book stuff, Zach Frazier at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick70
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kiran Amegadjie in slot 70. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick78
Rnd3
Maason Smith
Of all the spots to shop, they chose DT-EDGE. Maason Smith in No. 78 leaves linebacker, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick80
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
A wild overpay on Marshawn Kneeland in the 80th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick81
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Solomon at OLB-EDGE with linebacker, quarterback and other spots open.
Pick107
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at Round 4, Pick 7 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115
Rnd4
Javon Foster
A conviction pick on Javon Foster at slot 115 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick118
Rnd4
Kris Abrams-Draine
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 118th overall pick on Kris Abrams-Draine with linebacker, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
Pick126
Rnd4
Javion Cohen
A real head-scratcher, Javion Cohen in pick No. 126 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
They took Kitan Oladapo at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick194
Rnd6
Jaden Crumedy
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jaden Crumedy. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
Pick236
Rnd7
Dwight McGlothern
They paid a round early for Dwight McGlothern in the 236th pick, more than the board wanted. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
