Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Sanders should have been long gone. The 49ers pounced, and earned a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Raheim Sanders, the No. 142 name on the board, stolen at the Round 7 slot. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They will need Foreman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

It is not that Winston Jr. is a bad player; it is that the 49ers had louder needs to answer first. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at Round 2, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick75 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
The board had cheaper options than Donovan Jackson at the 75th overall pick, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick99 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Somehow Andrew Mukuba was still sitting there in slot 99, and they pounced on premier safety value. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick111 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 111 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick137 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Kevin Winston Jr. while clear needs at quarterback sat open.
Pick185 Rnd6 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at No. 185 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick226 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
Steal is underselling it; Raheim Sanders at pick 226 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick230 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at pick 230 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Kaden Prather
A quiet steal in pick No. 249: Kaden Prather for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick255 Rnd7 Korey Foreman
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Korey Foreman. A need, and now a little less of one.
