Overall B-

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Hudson: B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kobe Hudson, the No. 63 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 182. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They are betting Styles proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In slot 20 they get a long-term starter on the line, and a steal at that.
Pick33 Rnd2 Patrick Payton
They paid sticker price for Patrick Payton in the 33rd overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick52 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mykel Williams. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
They paid up for Wyatt Milum at the 84th pick when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick110 Rnd4 Davison Igbinosun
Value said wait; Davison Igbinosun in Round 4, Pick 14 says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116 Rnd4 Sonny Styles
They reached into another round for Sonny Styles, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick148 Rnd5 Clay Webb
They jumped the gun on Clay Webb, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick180 Rnd6 Bryce Foster
They reached a country mile for Bryce Foster at pick No. 180, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
Pick182 Rnd6 Kobe Hudson
Kobe Hudson at pick 182 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
