Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C-
ValueA- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Henderson should have been long gone. The Browns pounced, and earned a C-.

Call it larceny. Xzavier Henderson sat on the board until the 126th pick, and the Browns did not need to be asked twice. A mixed bag that lands at C-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They are betting Thomas proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Hit on Jonah Savaiinaea and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Jonah Savaiinaea
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick49 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
A slide stopped in No. 49, with Isaiah Bond worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick61 Rnd2 Cam Ward
They will replay Cam Ward at pick 61 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick63 Rnd2 Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at the 63rd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94 Rnd3 Josh Conerly Jr.
The board fumbled Josh Conerly Jr. all the way to the 94th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick113 Rnd4 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in slot 113 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick126 Rnd4 Xzavier Henderson
Taking Xzavier Henderson in pick No. 126 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick151 Rnd5 Tonka Hemingway
Somehow Tonka Hemingway was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick157 Rnd5 Ben Yurosek
Ben Yurosek in the 157th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick215 Rnd7 Logan Parr
You do not let an offensive lineman like Logan Parr reach Round 7, Pick 23 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick222 Rnd7 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in No. 222 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
