Rockusn DRAFTING FOR THEPackers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The Campbell steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Williams pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In No. 23 they get a load in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They let Jihaad Campbell come to them and pounced at the 54th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick87
Rnd3
Darien Porter
Darien Porter at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
A tidy little value on Emery Jones Jr. in pick No. 124, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick159
Rnd5
Nick Nash
Nick Nash is a better player than Round 5, Pick 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick198
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers in pick 198 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
Jabbar Muhammad at slot 237 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick250
Rnd7
John Williams
A reach on John Williams in the 250th pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
