Draft Grade — Lions
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureD
Best value of the weekend goes to the Lions for Harden: D-.

Somebody took the Lions to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

Watts has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Harden steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, linebacker very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In slot 25 they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick32 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In the 32nd overall pick they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick61 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They paid sticker price for Zach Frazier in Round 2, Pick 29, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
A premium they did not need to pay, Mekhi Wingo a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick126 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
Nice patience on Blake Fisher, who had no business lasting to the 126th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick132 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade in Round 4, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick164 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
They read the board right and Luke McCaffrey was the payoff at the 164th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick201 Rnd6 Erick All
No drama and no debate, Erick All went about where he belonged in the 201st overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick205 Rnd6 Eric Watts
They talked themselves into Eric Watts at the Round 6 slot, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick249 Rnd7 Myles Harden
Taking Myles Harden in pick No. 249 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
