There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Packers started one anyway for Matthew Jones, 23 picks ahead of schedule.

The Williams pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback, tight end and other spots still on the board. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Getting Magee where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
