The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Barrow Jr.: D+.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Cooper Mays; the 49ers did not wait, grabbing him 52 spots ahead at the 255th overall pick. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Getting Barrow Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
