The 49ers bled value on every deal, hence the D-.

The 49ers clearly saw something nobody else did in Collin Oliver, taking him 40 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Jackson at that price is a win they earned.

The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

In pick No. 2 they get a workhorse for the backfield. Exactly the need they had to hit.

In the Round 1 slot they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.

No edge and no loss on Marcus Mbow in the 43rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Cameron Williams. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson in No. 100 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick138 Rnd4 Mitchell Evans
They took Mitchell Evans at par in Round 4, Pick 36, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick227 Rnd7 Jeremy Crawshaw
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jeremy Crawshaw in pick 227, miles early. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
