allenwilson21 DRAFTING FOR THEPanthers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Panthers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named edge rusher, a need the Panthers walked right past.
Every board in the league had Legette lower, and that gap is the story. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette at slot 33 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick39
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
The board had cheaper options than Malachi Corley at pick 39, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Blake Corum
They went early on Blake Corum in No. 65, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick101
Rnd4
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson in the 101st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick141
Rnd5
Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at Round 5, Pick 5 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142
Rnd5
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nothing to complain about; Nehemiah Pritchett went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick240
Rnd7
Michael Barrett
They paid a round early for Michael Barrett in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
