The Panthers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Barrett Carter, the No. 165 name on the board, in No. 222. It nets out a thoroughly average C-.

Every board in the league had Durant lower, and that gap is the story. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

If Emeka Egbuka and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
