The Panthers clearly saw something nobody else did in Abdul Carter, taking him 66 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.

Adding Josh Downs by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 9 of the wish list covered.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
