FutureA-
The Panthers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. The phones were a trap the Panthers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
They will answer for taking OLB-EDGE early while quarterback went begging. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Every board in the league had McCaffrey lower, and that gap is the story. The Chambers pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
Nate Wiggins
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick60
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at pick 60 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick65
Rnd3
Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier at pick No. 65 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick78
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk at the 78th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick89
Rnd3
Cade Stover
Cade Stover at No. 89 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick97
Rnd3
DeWayne Carter
They paid sticker price for DeWayne Carter in slot 97, and that is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick100
Rnd3
Cole Bishop
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cole Bishop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick101
Rnd4
Will Shipley
A straight-up fair deal on Will Shipley at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick115
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 115th pick on Javon Solomon with quarterback unsolved.
Pick125
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
They talked themselves into Tommy Eichenberg at slot 125, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128
Rnd4
Luke McCaffrey
A wild overpay on Luke McCaffrey in Round 4, Pick 28, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash slid further than he should have, and pick 142 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Steal is underselling it; Steele Chambers at No. 220 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick240
Rnd7
Tyrice Knight
They went early on Tyrice Knight in the Round 7 slot, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
