The Patriots answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: A. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Bryce Huff gives the group a proven body among the projects.
In the end it comes back to Drake Maye, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In slot 8 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
A quiet steal in No. 35: Emeka Egbuka for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tyler Guyton
Good price on Tyler Guyton in the 67th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Ladd McConkey
Nothing to complain about; Ladd McConkey went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
