FutureA
The Patriots drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Sinnott reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In pick 5 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Nothing to complain about; Xavier Worthy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick37
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at the 37th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick103
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
By-the-book stuff, Tommy Eichenberg at slot 103 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick140
Rnd5
Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at the 140th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
