Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureA+
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: A. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Mesidor has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Lassiter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Drake Maye and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In slot 7 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick23
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Rome Odunze at No. 23. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
JC Latham
JC Latham is a better player than Round 2, Pick 2 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
They robbed the room for Jordan Morgan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick54
Rnd2
Kamari Lassiter
They barely believed it either: Kamari Lassiter still on the board at the 54th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick68
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
They will replay Xavier Legette at the 68th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick87
Rnd3
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100
Rnd3
Shemar Turner
Shemar Turner in pick 100 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick182
Rnd6
Akheem Mesidor
A big swing on Akheem Mesidor at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick226
Rnd7
Brevyn Spann-Ford
Brevyn Spann-Ford in slot 226 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
