Draft Grade — Patriots

FutureB-
Maye is the plan now, and the Patriots grade out a B+. Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Sanders at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick No. 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
They paid sticker price for Xavier Legette in No. 34, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68
Rnd3
Ja'Tavion Sanders
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ja'Tavion Sanders in Round 3, Pick 4. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick90
Rnd3
Junior Colson
The board had Junior Colson higher than the 90th pick, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick103
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in pick 103 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
