rshah124 DRAFTING FOR THEBears

Draft Grade — Bears

FutureB-
The Bears bet the future on Williams. The board says D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
The whole projection now runs through Caleb Williams; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk in the 75th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
Jaylen Wright at No. 84 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick111
Rnd4
Mekhi Wingo
They took Mekhi Wingo at par in Round 4, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick120
Rnd4
Javon Foster
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in slot 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick123
Rnd4
James Williams
They did well to land James Williams in pick 123, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
