Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Leonard: B.

Call it larceny. Riley Leonard sat on the board until pick No. 179, and the Browns did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The TeSlaa pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 2nd pick they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Grey Zabel
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Grey Zabel. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick67 Rnd3 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson at pick No. 67 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick94 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
By-the-book stuff, Quinn Ewers at slot 94 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Darius Alexander at No. 104. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick179 Rnd6 Riley Leonard
Circle this one: Riley Leonard at the 179th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 16 is lovely value for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
They let Jaylen Reed come to them and pounced at pick 200. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick216 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
They reached a country mile for Isaac TeSlaa at No. 216, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Brandon Adams
No drama and no debate, Brandon Adams went about where he belonged in slot 255. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
