Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Daniels. Grade: B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. On value alone, Haynes makes the weekend a net positive.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In slot 3 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Graham Barton at Round 2, Pick 2 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick68
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
They took Johnny Wilson at par in pick 68, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103
Rnd4
Christian Haynes
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 103rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden slid further than he should have, and the Round 5 slot is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jacob Cowing
Nothing to complain about; Jacob Cowing went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick224
Rnd7
Fentrell Cypress II
No drama and no debate, Fentrell Cypress II went about where he belonged in pick No. 224. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
