Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall D
ValueA+ NeedB TradesF FutureC-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Bernard: D.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Germie Bernard tumbling to the Patriots in the 244th pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Put together, it is a D.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In pick 30 they get a premier pass rusher, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick31 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick32 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In the 32nd overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
They robbed the room for Arvell Reese here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jermod McCoy
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jermod McCoy in the 94th pick, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick118 Rnd4 Jake Slaughter
They will replay Jake Slaughter at pick No. 118 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe in No. 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick195 Rnd6 Kenyon Sadiq
You do not let a tight end like Kenyon Sadiq reach Round 6, Pick 16 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Germie Bernard
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 30 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
