The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Henderson lower, and that gap is the story. Rice falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 3rd pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick34
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in pick 34 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick68
Rnd3
Adisa Isaac
They did well to land Adisa Isaac in slot 68, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick83
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 83rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick139
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for LaDarius Henderson. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
A tidy little value on Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick224
Rnd7
Trevor Keegan
They paid sticker price for Trevor Keegan in Round 7, Pick 4, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick232
Rnd7
Matthew Jones
Matthew Jones in No. 232 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
