Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Patriots spent the 198th pick on Patrick Payton, a name most had 64 spots down the list.

Stribling at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
