Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
A
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesA+
FutureA+
The Cardinals let Hart fall and pounced. Final grade: A. Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Hart slide, and the Cardinals were the ones holding the card at pick No. 226. Highway robbery. The board rewarded a patient, disciplined weekend with a A.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
If Brooks pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In pick 21 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick34
Rnd2
Taliese Fuaga
A tidy bit of business in the 34th pick, where Taliese Fuaga graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85
Rnd3
Adonai Mitchell
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Adonai Mitchell worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Good price on Andrew Mukuba in slot 102, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick133
Rnd4
Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks in pick No. 133 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick158
Rnd5
Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett at No. 158 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick169
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
Nice patience on Ty'Ron Hopper, who had no business lasting to the 169th overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 198th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick223
Rnd7
Dorian Singer
Dorian Singer at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick226
Rnd7
Cam Hart
Steal is underselling it; Cam Hart at pick No. 226 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
