You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Patriots did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A weekend to file away and forget, and an F to match.

Every board in the league had Williams lower, and that gap is the story. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hunter. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
