Draftmel DRAFTING FOR THEGiants

Draft Grade — Giants

TradesF
FutureB-
A passer of the future in Ward, and a C, for the Giants. The Giants spent the pick that matters most on Cam Ward, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Oladejo pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Brooks at that price is a win they earned.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the Round 1 slot they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Grey Zabel
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Grey Zabel. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Tre Harris slid further than he should have, and slot 65 is lovely value for the wide receiver. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in Round 3, Pick 35 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo at No. 105 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146
Rnd5
Sai'vion Jones
Fair-plus on Sai'vion Jones, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick154
Rnd5
Kyle Williams
They went early on Kyle Williams in pick 154, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick163
Rnd5
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in the 163rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick219
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks in slot 219 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick246
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
By-the-book stuff, Teddye Buchanan at pick 246 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
