You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Steelers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.

Belton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Smith reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
