A costly weekend of dealing drags the Steelers to a D.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Jalen Milroe; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 38 spots ahead at Round 2, Pick 25. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. The Grant steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 30th pick they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Value said wait; Jalen Milroe in No. 57 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62 Rnd2 Tre Harris
They took Tre Harris at par in pick 62, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83 Rnd3 Darien Porter
They did well to land Darien Porter in pick No. 83, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick123 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
They talked themselves into Sai'vion Jones at slot 123, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
Trevor Etienne in the 149th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers at the 185th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A minor need, but a need all the same.
