Tackle Ted DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the 49ers a B-. Nobody else had Domani Jackson anywhere near No. 127. The 49ers did, by 22 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while wide receiver, running back and other spots went begging. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the 27th pick they get a cornerstone up front, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter in No. 58 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darrell Jackson Jr.. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick127
Rnd4
Domani Jackson
They talked themselves into Domani Jackson at Round 4, Pick 27, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick133
Rnd4
Davison Igbinosun
A want over a need in the Round 4 slot: Davison Igbinosun adds a cornerback while wide receiver, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick139
Rnd4
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor in slot 139 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
By-the-book stuff, Oscar Delp at pick 172 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
