Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Bengals got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The phones were a trap the Bengals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The Sinnott pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The veteran additions, Roy Robertson-Harris chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
Pick24 Rnd1 Keon Coleman
In the 24th overall pick they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49 Rnd2 Kalen King
Kalen King is a better player than the 49th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick80 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in No. 80 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at slot 87 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
A wild overpay on Ben Sinnott in pick 115, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Value said wait; Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 5, Pick 15 says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick173 Rnd5 Cody Schrader
They read the board right and Cody Schrader was the payoff at pick No. 173. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick196 Rnd6 Tanor Bortolini
Tanor Bortolini at slot 196 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick226 Rnd7 Myles Jones
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Myles Jones at Round 7, Pick 6 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick238 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
No drama and no debate, Nathaniel Watson went about where he belonged in the 238th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick254 Rnd7 Demani Richardson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Demani Richardson at pick 254. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
