Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
C
ValueB
NeedB+
TradesF
FutureD+
The Steelers answered their biggest question with Sanders. Grade: C. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Steelers spent their marquee pick on Shedeur Sanders, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In No. 13 they get a franchise quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick100
Rnd3
Tai Felton
Tai Felton at pick No. 100 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick106
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in slot 106 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139
Rnd5
Trevor Etienne
The board had cheaper options than Trevor Etienne at pick 139, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick218
Rnd7
Caleb Ransaw
Nice patience on Caleb Ransaw, who had no business lasting to the 218th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
