Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Steelers were there to profit. DJ Giddens, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 225. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

They are betting Caldwell proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
