Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a B for the Patriots.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Caleb Williams is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop.

The Sainristil pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Tyjae Spears deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
Caleb Williams at slot 7 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick36 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
A quiet steal in pick 36: Brian Thomas Jr. for less than the market said. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Guyton
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Guyton. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick66 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at No. 66 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in the 68th pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in the 90th overall pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick102 Rnd4 Audric Estime
Audric Estime in Round 4, Pick 2 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103 Rnd4 Mike Sainristil
Taking Mike Sainristil in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick133 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in Round 4, Pick 33 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 MarShawn Lloyd
MarShawn Lloyd slipping to the 139th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick140 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden in slot 140 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick182 Rnd6 Grayson Murphy
They let Grayson Murphy come to them and pounced at pick No. 182. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Marcus Harris
A conviction pick on Marcus Harris at the 224th pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick232 Rnd7 Blake Watson
Blake Watson in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
