You build a draft on nights like this. Terry Moore had no business being available in pick No. 168, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.

Boubacar Traore slid further than he should have, and the 62nd overall pick is lovely value for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Bear Alexander at pick 94 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Taking Brandon Baker in No. 125 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.

Somehow Adam Trick was still sitting there in pick No. 130, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
