FutureA-
The Patriots drew a line under the quarterback search with Daniels: B+. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They are betting Mettauer proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the 9th pick they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at slot 35 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
Pick43
Rnd2
Tyler Guyton
They took Tyler Guyton at par in pick No. 43, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68
Rnd3
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and pick 68 is lovely value for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 3: Jamari Thrash for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick139
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at the Round 5 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick182
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the 182nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick225
Rnd7
Brevyn Spann-Ford
They read the board right and Brevyn Spann-Ford was the payoff at No. 225. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick251
Rnd7
McKade Mettauer
This one needs a full-page explanation: McKade Mettauer in pick No. 251, miles early. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
