FutureA+
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Patriots. The Patriots clearly saw something nobody else did in Sheridan Jones, taking him 31 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Wilson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
A straight-up fair deal on Taliese Fuaga at the Round 1 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick35
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Bralen Trice at No. 35 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick46
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell slipping to slot 46 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
A tidy bit of business in the 68th overall pick, where Kiran Amegadjie graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick103
Rnd4
Jalen McMillan
The board had Jalen McMillan higher than pick No. 103, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Roman Wilson
They robbed the room for Roman Wilson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 3 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick153
Rnd5
Mike Sainristil
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Mike Sainristil in slot 153, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick182
Rnd6
Sheridan Jones
Sheridan Jones in pick 182 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick224
Rnd7
Turner Corcoran
Taking Turner Corcoran in the 224th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick225
Rnd7
Jordan Magee
Jordan Magee slid further than he should have, and pick No. 225 is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor itch, scratched.
