Draft Grade — Bills

Good, not great, for the Bills: B-.

The tape said wait; the Bills did not. Tyler Batty went at Round 5, Pick 32, a good 70 picks before the board was ready. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Emmanwori value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick No. 30 they get a wrecking ball inside at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at pick 56 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick62 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
A reasonable price with a little left over, Azareye'h Thomas in slot 62. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Good price on Jordan Phillips in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
Sai'vion Jones at the 132nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick169 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
They liked Jack Kiser enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 5, Pick 31. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170 Rnd5 Tyler Batty
They left a pile of value on the table to take Tyler Batty this early at No. 170. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick173 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in Round 5, Pick 35 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick177 Rnd6 Chimere Dike
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Chimere Dike well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick206 Rnd6 Marcus Yarns
A real head-scratcher, Marcus Yarns in the 206th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
