Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B+
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesA+
FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Bills this weekend: B+. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bills started one anyway for Daijahn Anthony, 37 picks ahead of schedule. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Simpson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Josh Uche deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
They jumped the gun on T'Vondre Sweat, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick60
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 60 with a little surplus value in Xavier Worthy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni slid further than he should have, and pick 99 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129
Rnd4
Tyler Davis
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tyler Davis at No. 129 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick143
Rnd5
Beau Brade
Good price on Beau Brade in slot 143, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick159
Rnd5
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the 159th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jaylin Simpson
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 26 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick198
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cornelius Johnson at slot 198. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick202
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
A reach on Josh Proctor in the 202nd pick; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick206
Rnd6
Daijahn Anthony
This one needs a full-page explanation: Daijahn Anthony in the Round 6 slot, miles early. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick246
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
They robbed the room for Frank Gore Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
