Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesC+ FutureA
The Commanders answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: B+.

After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Caleb Williams is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.

The Wilson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They will need Bell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
They took Caleb Williams at par in the Round 1 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick27 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the 27th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. is a better player than pick No. 36 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick40 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
They read the board right and Kool-Aid McKinstry was the payoff at No. 40. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter in pick 67 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick78 Rnd3 Tyler Nubin
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Nubin at Round 3, Pick 14 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in the 100th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick138 Rnd5 Nehemiah Pritchett
Nehemiah Pritchett in slot 138 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jaheim Bell
They talked themselves into Jaheim Bell at the 139th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt at No. 152 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick222 Rnd7 Ty'Ron Hopper
They robbed the room for Ty'Ron Hopper here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
