Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Patriots: B-.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Gino Garcia at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 65 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the 4th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
Pick38 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in Round 2, Pick 6 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
A clean, defensible pick in slot 69 with a little surplus value in Quinshon Judkins. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick77 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo at No. 77 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It fills a real need, too.
Pick106 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
They jumped the gun on Denzel Burke, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick144 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
A reach for Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick 144; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick217 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 217 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick220 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
Nothing to complain about; Craig Woodson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick238 Rnd7 Gino Garcia
Gino Garcia at the 238th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
