Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

FutureB-
The Raiders answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: B-. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Raiders' quarterback, full stop. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
The cost of the Black reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Prysock. The Raiders indulged a want in Smith while a need in edge rusher stayed open.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Fernando Mendoza
In pick 1 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They took Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at par in slot 36, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick67
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
Taking Lee Hunter in the 67th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick102
Rnd4
Ted Hurst
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 102, where Ted Hurst graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick117
Rnd4
Genesis Smith
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Genesis Smith adds a safety and leaves edge rusher untouched.
Pick134
Rnd4
Will Lee III
A quiet steal in No. 134: Will Lee III for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175
Rnd5
Travis Burke
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Travis Burke. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick185
Rnd6
Kaelon Black
They talked themselves into Kaelon Black at Round 6, Pick 4, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick208
Rnd6
Riley Nowakowski
They paid a round early for Riley Nowakowski in No. 208, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Pick219
Rnd7
Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock at Round 7, Pick 3 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
