Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers let Wilson fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

When a board-topper like Jared Wilson slides to Round 6, Pick 21, you do not overthink it, and the 49ers did not. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

The cost of the Robinson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In pick 11 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Nothing to complain about; Tyler Booker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Aeneas Peebles
A premium they did not need to pay, Aeneas Peebles a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at No. 99 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick111 Rnd4 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 4 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137 Rnd4 Elijah Arroyo
You do not let a tight end like Elijah Arroyo reach slot 137 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
They went early on Ty Robinson in the 152nd overall pick, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jared Wilson
Circle this one: Jared Wilson at the 196th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick230 Rnd7 Marcus Yarns
No edge and no loss on Marcus Yarns in pick No. 230; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
